Teri Loxam
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICERTeri Loxam, Chief Financial Officer of Compass Pathways, brings a uniquely multidisciplinary background to her leadership, combining experience across the pharmaceutical, life sciences, and technology industries with a strategic perspective that extends far beyond traditional finance. She began her career as a marine biologist before making a deliberate pivot into business, a trajectory that reflects the same adaptability and agility that she brings to Compass. Teri approaches her role with both analytical rigor and a sense of curiosity that allows her to navigate the business holistically and bring strategic depth across functions, connecting decisions to our broader vision for operating at an entirely different scale.
Teri is known for her expertise at the intersection of strategy, capital markets, and execution—partnering with CEOs and boards to navigate complex inflection points. Her experience includes leading IPOs, reshaping investor bases, executing complex fundraising and business development initiatives, and building the operational and financial infrastructure required to scale. She has held CFO and COO roles across multiple biotechs and senior leadership roles at Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb and IMAX, where she consistently combined forward-looking strategic insight with rigorous financial and operational leadership. She also brings significant governance experience, serving on the board and acting as Audit Chair of Vaxcyte, Inc. (PCVX) and Cardiol Therapeutics (CRDL) as well as serving on the board of Warriorside, a veteran-founded nonprofit dedicated to reducing suicide, depression, and disconnection among veterans and first responders. She holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Victoria and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine.
Teri is widely recognized for turning high-stakes complexity into aligned strategy and execution, enabling organizations to scale, transform, and deliver sustained impact. She is driven by the potential impact of Compass’ work on patients: the possibility of treatment that offers not just relief, but a renewed sense of connection to themselves and to the people around them. She appreciates that the people at Compass have a personal connection to mental health, whether their own or someone they love – and this understanding shapes everything from how our team works, how we treat each other, and how we think about the people we strive to serve. At Compass, people truly come first – something Teri has found to be genuinely lived through all that we do.
The majority of our people have a deeply personal connection to mental health. That is not incidental. It shapes how we work, treat each other, and consider the patients we aim to serve in all that we do. People really do come first at Compass.
